I’m Ena Esco, a long-time radio veteran, creator of the Verbally Effective podcast, and all around media aficionado. I love connecting with people and hearing their stories, especially how people have defied the odds to pursue their passions and the impact of their efforts (the major focus of the Verbally Effective podcast). I frequently serve as an MC for corporate events, awards ceremonies, and other social events. I also consult on digital strategies and conduct media trainings for businesses and individuals.
I’m originally from Beaumont, Texas but have called Memphis, TN and the greater mid-south area home ever since my family moved to Millington, TN when I was finishing high school. I studied business administration at LeMoyne-Owen College, where I was a Dubois Scholar, president of my sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and Miss Lemoyne Owen. Afterwards, I went on to obtain an MBA.
I got my first break in the broadcasting industry during my senior year in college, when I worked as a research coordinator at Flinn Broadcasting’s urban format Hot 107.1FM (KXHT). After two months, I hit the airwaves and have been on air ever since.
When I’m not working my 9-5 as a buyer or broadcasting on V101.1FM (KJMS), I’m with my husband at our two sons’ soccer and basketball games. I’m an excellent cook – gumbo and crawfish etouffee are my specialties (but neither were what got my now husband, then boyfriend, hooked. Find out what I cooked for him on episode of A Difficult Beauty.) Because I work two jobs, three if you count the second shift women work at home, I often find girl time can get forgotten if I don’t prioritize it. That’s part of why we created this pod – to make time for girl time with each other and our girl gang across the airwaves.
